The results
Mostly A’s — He meant it, plainly. He told you the truth in the nicest words available. Painful, but usable: would you take exactly this, indefinitely, with no change? If the honest answer is no, you already know.
Mostly B’s — He wants talking out of it. The line arrives whenever it gets close and dissolves the moment you reassure him. You end up doing the feeling-work for two people. Try not catching it once, and watch what he does.
Mostly C’s — The exit he never finished. This is a man leaving slowly so he never has to say the word. Compare this fortnight to a month ago — fades are only visible from that distance, and you don’t need his confirmation.
Mostly D’s — A disclaimer for doing less. He’s telling you in advance not to expect much, so the next let-down is pre-approved. Would you be impressed if a friend described this to you? That’s the whole test.
