Most conflict in early dating isn't about the content, it's about the shape of the sentence. 'You never' invites defence. 'I felt' invites a response. It sounds like a small distinction and it changes almost every conversation you'll have.
It's not that you have to be endlessly gentle or manage his feelings. It's that a sentence built as an accusation gets answered as one.
If your sentence starts with 'you always' or 'you never', rewrite it before sending. Every time.

“rephrasing my earlier text into something less like a court summons:”
“i felt dismissed earlier and i want to talk about it rather than let it sit.”
